The South African Football Players Union has joined for calls for the match between Mamelodi Sundowns and TS Galaxy to be postponed.
After the tragic passing of Motjeka Madisha, and that of Anele Ngcongca last month, SAFPU has said that they do not understand why the Premier Soccer League has rejected the request from Sundowns to postpone this game.
Sundowns are scheduled to host TS Galaxy tonight at the Loftus Stadium.
“Health and safety at work must be a preoccupation and priority of every employer to the extent that it relates to his and her employees.” Thulaganyo Gaoshubelwe, the SAFPU President said in the statement.
“It goes without saying that the ability for an employer to produce good quality and in good quantities depends on the health and safety of employees. One of the factors in this aspect is the mental health and psychological aspects as well as stability.”
“There is a direct relationship between the physical and the mind. In fact the mind of a person controls every aspect of his or her body. Having lost members of their squad consecutively will have a dire impact on their mental health agility, and performance this just two days after the passing of Motjeka Madisha.”
