Seema – We Dominated The Game

Golden Arrows coach Lehlohonolo Seema was disappointed after his team ‘dominated’ the game, but lost on penalties to GladAfrica Championship side Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila in their Nedbank Cup round of 32 encounter.

Arrows lost 7-6 to TTM on penalties after they played to 1-1 in 120 minutes at Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday evening.

However, Seema said missing chances to score goals was the only disappointing factor from his side, and he insisted his team looks ready for the return of the DStv Premiership.

“It’s one of the games that I think that we played very well, we dominated the match as Golden Arrows,” he said after the match.

“However, the only thing that we did not do was to score the goals and in a soccer match, if you don’t score goals, you’re not going to win the game.

“You can see that TTM was playing at home, they were full of running and their spirits were high. And that did not make them even to tie because I think we used the ball very well, we tried to use the ball, make them to work extra hard, but the determination that they had, they kept on going.

“So the only thing for us that was while we’re using the ball well, even possession, we need to score goals so that we can make them tired or maybe making them to see that this game is getting difficult for them, and then we could get to win the match.

“However, the players, I think they apply themselves very well. We applied ourselves very well as Golden Arrows and I think it’s one of the games that we have many positives, except that we did not win the match.

“I am glad that if we can play like this in the league game and compliment it with scoring, then we will have a good second round. However, in this one, there are numerous positives that we can take from the game from individuals, from the group until we get into where now we can work more into scoring goals.”

The Nedbank Cup resumes on Wednesday and over the next week the other eleven places in the last sixteen will be filled.

Abafana Bes’thende will have to shift their focus to the DStv Premiership as they face Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium on the 16th of February.
