Senong Explains What Sekhukhune Need To Do To Beat City Rovers

Sekhukhune United assistant coach Thabo Senong has vowed not to take Platinum City Rovers lightly when they meet in today’s Nedbank Cup encounter.

The DStv Premiership side debutants were drawn with a GladAfrica Championship outfit in the round of 32 and Senong thinks the key to avoid complacency is to treat the opponent with the same regard as big teams.

Senong, though, has admitted they will find it hard to beat the first division newcomers, but he is confident his side will go guns-blazing to get the good results.

“The preparations have been good, we have been now together with the players for three weeks, plus a few days,” Senong told club’s media department.

“It’s not easy to rebuild a team from the restart, but yes is the second round now it’s going to be the most important part of the season, and we are starting with a cup game, so it’s not easy.

“We are starting with an opposition that is playing in the lower leagues, so again, you want to avoid playing against the close book, our analysis department have done a bit of work so that we can just see what to expect on Saturday.

“We are playing against a very good team, they had a good first round, they started well, picked up points early in the season, and some interesting key players, Eric Ntlaba, Thabiso Nkoana in the last line of attack, and few experienced players, their goalkeeper was very crucial a key in their first round.

“So it’s not going to be easy, but we are looking forward to a tough encounter. We’re not going to take it lightly. We’re going to make sure that we are organized when we attack, we are very aggressive when we defend, and we just respect every phase of the game so that we have a good result.”

The match is scheduled for 15:00 this afternoon at Olen Park Stadium, Potchefstroom.
