Shonga Delighted To Score

Justin Shonga says he is delighted after scoring on debut in Sekhukhune’s big win over Baroka in the DStv Premiership on Sunday.

The Zambian international scored Sekhukhune’s first goal in the 4-0 win, in his first start since joining the club.

The former Orlando Pirates striker has found it difficult in recent years and Sekhukhune is his fourth club in two years.

After Pirates he spent a short period at Tshakhuma (now Marumo Gallants) before a stint at Cape Town City. He then headed north to Ismaily, but played just four games in Egypt before returning to South Africa.

“It’s a nice feeling, it’s a good start for me, because, you know, football-wise I’ve been struggling to settle in in teams,” he told the club’s media department.

“Like I would say it’s a good start. And I just want to keep the momentum because when you’re playing for a new club and just arrived you need to adapt to the way they play, have to work extra hard for you to put yourself in the first starting eleven, because it’s obviously for the starting eleven for the team you have to push yourself.

“So I’m gonna keep on pushing harder, and I’m so happy with the start, so I’ll keep going.”
