Stellenbosch Football Club have parted ways with midfielder Darrel Matsheke after five months.
Matsheke joined Stellies in October after he was released by Kaizer Chiefs following few loan spells at Uthongathi FC and Moroka Swallows.
The former Amakhosi youth product impressed Steve Barker after training with Stellies for one day. Barker highly praised Matsheke and believed that the club will benefit a lot from him.
He never disappointed as he won two Man Of The Match awards since arriving at Stellies and was part of the club’s history after helping them clinch their first ever topflight trophy.
“Stellenbosch Football Club has parted ways with Darrel Matsheke by mutual agreement after the player transgressed the club’s internal code of conduct,” the club statement read.
“Matsheke arrived in the Cape Winelands at the start of the current season and made 12 appearances across all competitions, notably scoring the winning penalty kick during the club’s 2023 Carling Knockout victory.
“We would like to thank him for his contributions over the last five months and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
Matsheke has become the second player to leave Stellies with contract termination in a space of a month after Kgaogelo Sekgotha also left.
He played his last game for the Cape Winelands side against Cape Town Spurs in a 1-1 draw at Danie Craven Stadium.
