Stellenbosch FC have completed three signings ahead of the 2022/23 campaign as they look to build on their record fourth-place finish in the DStv Premiership.

The Cape Winelands outfit have enjoyed a dramatic turnaround over the past 12 months, having narrowly avoided relegation in the 2019/20 season, Steve Barker’s side nearly finished inside the top-three for CAF inter-club qualification, but whether they really wanted it is up for debate, due to the costs and effects the squad might face travelling Africa.

Captain Zitha Kwinika and attacking talisman Ashley du Preez have already been sold to Kaizer Chiefs as the Achilles heel most ‘smaller’ clubs face when overachieving in the league, but with a squad of DStv Diski Challenge champions and a few shrewd additions lined up, they could be maintaining their impressive trajectory.

iDiski Times can now confirm the club have secured the signings of Vusi Sibiya (27) from Baroka as the direct replacement for Kwinika, as reported in Edition 58 which is available for free here.

Sinethemba Mngomezulu (22) from TS Galaxy to fill the gap of Ashley Du Preez, while William Luezi Likuta from DC Motema Pembe in Congo is a new talent incoming that many should look out for judging by his performances in the Linafoot last season.

The left-footed DR Congo youth international has been touted to set the stage alight by many from his native country and was strongly linked with a move to TP Mazembe.

However, Stellies, who have been monitoring his talents for over a year now, are seemingly confident he can step up where the likes of Stanley Dimgba failed to do in his second season at the club.
