Mamelodi Sundowns have given an update regarding Gaston Sirino’s injury that saw him taken off midway through the first half of their CAF Champions League game against Al Hilal on Friday.
Sirino was involved in a nasty head collision during the 1-0 win at Royal Bafokeng Stadium, and was replaced by Thapelo Morena.
Now the club has confirmed that the Uruguayan suffered a nasal fracture, and will undergo surgery today.
“Gaston Sirino suffered a nasal fracture in the first half of yesterday’s match and was stabilized before being transferred to the Netcare Fancrest Hospital, in Rustenburg, for assessment,” the club said on their social media platforms.
“He was released in time to travel back home with the rest of the team.
“Gaston will undergo a surgical procedure today (Saturday). We all wish Gaston a speedy recovery and we will provide further updates from the medical team.”
It is not clear when Sirino will be available again, but he is certain to miss Sundowns’ next fixture, when they face Baroka in the DStv Premiership on Monday.
