SuperSport United Head Coach Kaitano Tembo says his team weren’t good in the first half against Kaizer Chiefs, but was pleased with how his team responded in the second half in the 1-1 draw.
Second-placed SuperSport missed a chance to close the gap on leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who are now four points ahead.
Tembo admits Chiefs were the better team in the first half, but was pleased with the improvement in the second 45.
“Well, first half was very poor, we didn’t really come to play, especially in the first half, we were second on the ball, they won all the second balls, and they kept the ball a little bit longer than us, we gave the ball away so easily,” Tembo said after the game.
“And we couldn’t come out of our defensive blocks because of that.”
“But second half, I think we got better when we brought in Gabuza. He gives us a lot of options in terms of putting their defence under pressure.”
“And that allowed us as well to play, our midfielders to join in, and Kuda (Mahachi) also giving us width on the left, I thought Kuda played very well because he kept on turning Ngezana and putting in those crosses. But overall, it wasn’t really a good game.”
