Tembo Pleased With ‘Iniesta’s’ First Start

SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo was pleased with his team’s performance as they scored late to beat Stellenbosch 1-0 on Wednesday, and says he was particularly happy with debutant Selaelo Rasebotja.

Bradley Grobler grabbed a winner in the last minute of the game, scoring his first goal of the season, which also pleased Tembo.

The SuperSport coach says it was a good response after their 1-0 defeat to Sekhukhune United on the weekend, and he was delighted to get a result in what was a very tough fixture.

Tembo also singled out Rasebotja, as the 20-year-old made his first start for the club, with his three previous appearances having come off the bench.

“Look, I thought it was a very tight game,” Tembo said at the post match press conference.

“But I was quite happy with our response you know, from our weekend game against Sekhukhune, I thought the guys came out with the right mentality, right attitude.

“We played very well, our pressing was very good. And defensively I was quite happy with TT as well as Kegan Johannes, Bash as well as Siya, I thought we played very well.

“But for me, the highlight of this game was Selaelo Rasebotja, Iniesta. I thought the he played very well in midfield, played with no fear, his pressing was good, he was good on the ball, he took us forward a lot of times, just unfortunate that he also started cramping towards the end.

“The other things I was happy with also Bradley’s goal, first goal of the season. Because last season, he scored about 16 goals for us in the league.

“And if you take away those 16 goals, the team suffers, so I was quite happy that he scored his first goal of the season. And I know him, when he starts scoring, he never stops.

“And also the clean sheet, we didn’t concede, today we were very solid, tight defensively, and I was happy with that.”
