Thibedi Update After Horror 2021/22 Swallows Season

Swallows FC midfielder Given Thibedi is set to make a return after spending most of last season on the periphery of the squad.

Thibedi joined Maswaiswai permanently at the beginning of last season from Kaizer Chiefs after an impressive loan deal en route to winning the Motsepe Championship Foundation and upon their return to the top-flight.

Things, unfortunately, changed after the club made significant investments in the squad and with midfield competition bolstered – he only made three appearances in all competitions for the club and he was on the bench on two occasions.

Along with Tlakusani Mthethwa, injuries are said to have kept them out for most of the season whilst the team avoided relegation on the last day of the promotional playoffs.

iDiski Times can confirm the 24-year-old midfielder is set to make a return to the team ahead of the AmaZulu clash at the Dobsonville Stadium on Friday night. The ‘Dube Birds’ supporters are hopeful that they can revive their combination with Mthethwa, who has also returned from injury.

Later on Monday, Swallows coach Dylan Kerr did confirm that Thibedi is back in training and “fully fit”, quote-tweeting the iDiski Times story.

The Soweto giants managed to collect four points out of a possible nine in the new campaign with player-coach Musa Nyatama in the dugout while head coach Dylan Kerr is still awaiting his work permit to be available.

However, on Monday David Mogashoa also confirmed that Kerr will return to the sidelines against AmaZulu on the weekend.
