Mamelodi Sundowns chairman Tlhopie Motsepe says his success with the club will come only if he listens and learns from his elders.
Motsepe took over the club after his father, Patrice Motsepe was named the President of Confederation of African Football (CAF) in March this year.
However, Motsepe has managed to oversee the DStv Premiership title, the MTN8 and their first-ever CAF Women’s Champions League title which was recently won by Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies in Cairo, Egypt.
Motsepe, though, insists listening to those who have experience in any particular job, it brings more knowledge.
“I think every trophy, you know, is the club’s trophy, I’m not counting them individually right now, my brother,” Motsepe told iDiski Times.
“But I must say that it’s been a blessing. It’s been truly momentous and a special stock to my tenure as chairman.
“And really, you have to give thanks to the admin staff and the players, and the coaches who have made this possible for our football club. And obviously, the support from our supporters, you see them on social media always encouraging.
“As a football club, I think one thing that I’ve learned in my time is that it pays to listen to the people around you. As a young chairman, it’s important to listen to those who have done this before, and those who have so much experience to offer.
“So that’s all I know that’s the secret. You listen to your elders, you learn from your elders, and you try where you can to inject a little of energy and a bit of innovation, but nothing too drastic.”
