Truter – Chiefs Is A Special Team

Swallows Head Coach Brandon Truter says that they want to finish as high as possible in their debut DStv Premiership season, and so they will go out for a win against ‘special team’ Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday.

Swallows surprised many with their performances throughout 2020/21, and for much of the campaign were in second spot. But although they have only lost once this season, this year has seen the club struggle for three points, and of their 25 league matches so far, they have drawn 16.

Now fifth, Truter says they want to get back to winning ways and would like to try and get a top three spot, which would qualify them for continental football.

Chiefs are currently ninth, eleven points behind Swallows, and Truter says Gavin Hunt’s men will be hungry for the points as well, as they are looking for a top eight finish.

“Look ja, it is a special game that I want to mention first,” Truter said.

“People will sit up, people will look at it as well. As much as Chiefs needs a win, we also, it is their home ground as well.

“With us, I wouldn’t say no special preparation as well, but mental prep is more important for us at this stage. Look at our amounts of the draws as well, we need a win just as much as they need it as well.

“Of course with different objectives. They want to get into the top eight, we want to get into spots for Africa, or finish as high as possible in our first season.

“But look, Chiefs is a special team, they’ve got special players definitely that can change the game. We have to be mindful of those players. We have to plan accordingly because at one moment, any moment in the game, one mistake they can punish us.

“But ja, for us it’s about improvement. For us it’s about improving on our last performance which was a draw against Maritzburg where we started in second half playing only.

“It is their home game, they will have to win, they will have to come out, they will have to open up, but we know what to expect from Chiefs, we know the key players as well and we will plan accordingly.”
