There were two 1-1 draws in Tuesday’s DStv Premiership matches as Orlando Pirates hosted TS Galaxy and Kaizer Chiefs hosted Baroka. Pirates and Chiefs meet on Saturday in the Soweto Derby.
Kaizer Chiefs 1-1 Baroka
Chiefs had to come from behind to get a 1-1 draw with a spirited Baroka team at the FNB Stadium.
It was a goalless first half as Baroka put in a good defensive performance to deny the home side, who had a few half chances, but couldn’t take advantage.
Baroka grabbed the lead in the 52nd minute, when Thamsanqa Masiya was set up by Evedince Makgopa’s flick on, and Masiya put the ball past Daniel Akpeyi.
Chiefs were level in the 76th minute, when Goodman Mosele put Reeve Frosler’s low cross into his own net.
Orlando Pirates 1-1 TS Galaxy
Pirates and Galaxy played to a 1-1 draw at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday.
Bongani Sam put Pirates into the lead ten minutes into the game. Finding himself unmarked and in the clear, the young full back made no mistake with a fine finish.
Masilake Phohlongo equalised for Galaxy in the 20th minute, the former Ajax Cape Town man heading in Luckyboy Mokoena’s ball.
Meanwhile a yellow card given to Innocent Maela with ten minutes to go, means the Pirates defender will miss Saturday’s game through suspension.
