Van Heerden Targets Cup Run

Stellenbosch defender Marc Van Heerden has said that while Baroka may be struggling in the league, they will be a difficult opponent when they meet in the Nedbank Cup on Friday evening.

The two teams are set to meet at the Danie Craven Stadium at 6pm on Friday, where they will compete for a spot in the last sixteen.

Van Heerden says that Baroka can be a difficult side to play against, and the Limpopo side may be using the cup to boost their confidence.

But the 33-year-old says the Nedbank Cup is a tournament they have set targets in.

“Ja, I think we played them not too long ago, and we obviously beat them,” Van Heerden told the club’s media department.

“It was wasn’t one of our best games but they’re a team that is difficult to play against, got one or two individuals that need attention, but they’re not doing well in the league, but this is the cup, so they also need to get a bit of confidence and this is a platform for them to do that.

“This is a cup that we’ve set our targets on for the season so we need to go out and obviously be at our best to beat them.

“I mean, other teams are playing lower league teams, and we’re playing a PSL team. So it’s, it’s gonna be a difficult match.”
