Venda Football Academy have completed the signing of striker, Rophney ‘Rover’ Hlungwane who they have been monitoring since last season, iDiski Times has gathered.

Hlungwane, 29, has penned down a one-year-and-six-month deal with an option to extend after leaving Emmanuel FC, who ply their trade in the ABC Motsepe League.

‘Rover’, as he is affectionately known, had represented South Africa’s U23 team in 2015 and played for Free State Stars’ MDC side in 2016, having bagged three goals in two matches at the club.

The 29-year-old has emerged as one of the most exciting players in the SAB League, having helped Emmanuel FC to get promotion to the ABC Motsepe League last season after his crucial performances.

The GladAfrica Championship newcomers roped in the Limpopo-born striker to boost their squad as they look to continue their impressive start to the season, having finished in fourth place in the first round of the campaign.
