Ahead of Thursday’s Afcon qualifier against Ghana, Ronwen Williams has said that Bafana Bafana remain on track of their goals of winning all their home games, and ending top of their group.
While Bafana are currently second behind Ghana, both teams are on nine points, and victory on Thursday would see South Africa go first, and all but qualify for the Afcon, with Sunday’s away game against Sudan remaining.
Williams, who has been in goal for all of the qualifiers so far, is set to earn his 17th cap for the country on Thursday.
“We know what’s at stake,” Williams said at the presser on Monday.
“At the beginning of this journey, the coach asked us, ‘what do you want to achieve?’ And we said, we want to be number one in the group, and that’s the challenge we’ve put in front of ourselves.”
“And, so far, so good.”
“And another thing was, we said, that we want to win all our home games, and so far, so good, we got two out of two.”
“And we want to keep that momentum going. So going into the Ghana game, we want to keep that record going.”
