Zinnbauer Explains Pirates’ Five Absentees

Josef Zinnbauer has explained which five Orlando Pirates players will be absent for Sunday’s Carling Black Label Cup.

The official Pirates line-up was announced on Wednesday evening, with some fans wondering why the likes of Happy Jele and Vincent Pule did not appear in the XI.

However, Zinnbauer explained that the duo are currently sidelined with injury problems, alongside three other Buccaneers players.

“We have now four or five players who are out, they are not in training,” he said at a press conference.

“Like (Tshegofatso) Mabasa, (Zakhele) Lepasa, just now Happy (Jele) and (Terrence) Dzvukamanja, (Vincent) Pule… They are not in the last 10 days, 14 days not often on the on the field.

“It is a little bit disrupt but it’s much, much better like in the last season because you have now close to five-and-a-half weeks pre-season. Last season was close two, maybe two-and-a-half weeks.

“It’s a bit different. We can work on on tactics, we can work on conditioning, we can work on private talks. Yeah like now, we have team building sessions alone with the players without coaches or with coaches and that’s the little things you can improve.”

Below you can find Pirates’ line-up for the upcoming Soweto derby at Orlando Stadium on Sunday.

Pirates current starting XI: Ofori, Hlatshwayo, Maela, Nyauza, Jooste, Lorch, Motshwari, Hotto, Makaringe, Monare, Mhango.
