Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer has said that his team is still a work in progress, but he is happy with how they are developing.
Pirates, who have already qualified for the MTN8 Final, have been in good form in recent games, and have won their last 4 consecutive games in all competitions.
They beat SuperSport United 2-1 on the weekend, and will look to carry that form into their next game against Baroka on Saturday.
But Zinnbauer knows he will have to manage the squad well, as there are a number of players competing for positions.
“You see the squad this season, we need a little time for the new players,” Zinnbauer said in a Zoom presser after the SuperSport game.
“In the two weeks, we could not work with all players because they were away with their national teams, but we have a lot of players.”
The German mentor is also looking forward to welcome back Gabadinho Mhango and Bongani Sam back to training this week, while they are looking to integrate new signing Jean-Marc Makusu into the team.
“Next week, I hope we have Gaba coming back, then we have Jean-Marc and we have Sam coming back.”
“We also have some players that are not on the bench at the moment but they have to wait for their chances, like Dlamini also.”
“We have so many players now that we can choose for games, and this is a competition and it’s just what we want. We want a fight for places in the squad and starting line-up.”
“In this time we know not all players are ready, we know it, but you know it was a pre-season for 3 weeks, and then there was a national break, and now another international break.”
