Zinnbauer Reveals Pirates HT Talk

Orlando Pirates Head Coach Josef Zinnbauer has revealed what he told his players at half-time before they raced to three goals against Black Leopards on Thursday.

The 3-0 victory lifts Pirates up to the fourth on the table, just one point behind third placed Golden Arrows.

The German coach says he was happy to get the points, and pleased with the performances overall from the team.

“I think we were from the first minute on completely in the game, we dominate the game, we control the game, we have I don’t know how many chances to score,” Zinnbauer said in the post match presser.

Despite the dominant first half, Pirates went into the break without scoring but and Zinnbauer reveals what he told his players at half-time.

“But it isn’t so special games, you can play very well, you don’t shoot the goal and then maybe it’s possible the opponent have a chance and then one shot it’s most the time a goal, but we have this day not this problem,” he explained.

“In the second half, we discussed this in the dress room, be calm, wait out the chance and score, and if you score, then go forward, wait on the right moment, you play the counter and you make the second goal.

“This was the target and we make this very well in the second half, the team have a very good different structure, the opponent tried it and tried and tried.

“We have, I have to say, a lot of chances in the second half also to score. But ja, I think the result with 3-0, it’s deserved and yes we can discuss now, we can more score but I’m happy we have three and we have a clean sheet and it’s the points what we want, and then we looking forward to the next game against Stellenbosch.”

Pirates now sit in fourth spot with with 42 points, just one behind third-placed Golden Arrows and eight behind AmaZulu, having played one game less than the other two.
