Themba Zwane says that it is clear by their unbeaten run this season, that Mamelodi Sundowns are doing some things right.
The unbeaten DStv Premiership leaders are in Tanzania this weekend for CAF Champions League action, as they take on CR Belouizdad in neutral Tanzania on the 28th.
Sundowns are also unbeaten in the CAFCL this season, there only blemish in 2020/2021 being the loss to Bloemfontein Celtic on the 18th of October in the MTN8 quarter-finals. Since then it’s been 20 games undefeated.
Zwane says the team are very unified and it is the result of that and hard work at training that they have done so well this season.
“The team has been unbeaten and shows that we are doing something well,” Zwane told the club’s website.
“We are one team, we fight for one another and we push all the time we play. We have quality players that are here to do the job and we can do it”.
“The combinations start at training as we push ourselves hard and try to communicate and understand each other. We motivate each other all the time, you can see when we score we go to the corner and celebrate together and that shows it is about the team. It shows that we are in this together, it doesn’t matter who scores but as long as the team wins.”
After a friendly bet, coach Steve Komphela has to do 50 push-ups every time Zwane scores, and ‘Mshishi’ says it’s fun like that brightens the mood.
“Those are the things that bring the spirit to the team and brightens the mood. Whenever you show unity everything works out well.”
“You know we have a couple of new players and by doing the jokes we want to ease up the mood and make them feel welcomed and part of the team. When it comes to work, we always work hard and play no games.”
