Chiefs Loanee Propels Kruger To MFC Summit

Kaizer Chiefs loanee Vicky Mkhawana scored a late goal that propelled Kruger United to the top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship, as Casric Stars suffered consecutive dropped points. 

The Motsepe Foundation Championship title race has intensified, with Kruger United leading after Mkhawana’s late winner against Milford FC, who fell to second place, three points behind the leaders.

The 20-year-old striker, on loan from Chiefs until the season’s conclusion, has been instrumental in Kruger United’s success. 

The Nedbank Cup hangover seems to be hitting hard for both Milford FC and Casric Stars, as they haven’t picked up wins since reaching the Nedbank Cup semis. 

Meanwhile, Casric Stars’ late equalizer through Cameroonian Simon Moukete secured a draw against Lerumo Lions, but the team slipped to fifth place, five points behind the leaders. 

Pretoria University achieved its third consecutive win with a narrow victory over Venda FC, courtesy of Prince Nxumalo’s first-half goal, while AmaTuks remains 10 points behind the league leaders. 

Furthermore, Black Leopards broke an 11-match winless streak with a 1-0 win over Leicesterford City, keeping their survival hopes alive as they trail the safety zone by five points with a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Cape Town City’s 11-match unbeaten run came to an end on Friday, after they went down 3-1 to Hughbury. The Citizens remained in third spot on the log, four points behind leaders Kruger, while Highbury climbed into ninth.
