Durban City Dedicate Huge Win For ‘Sgora’

There were wins for the top three teams in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, as they look to secure their spots with just three more rounds to play.

On Friday, Durban City were back on the pitch after the sad passing of Sinamandla ‘Sgora’ Zondi midweek and secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Pretoria Callies to entrench their place in the top spot.

There was only one win on Saturday, as Baroka beat Highbury 3-1. It ended goalless between Casric Stars and Cape Town Spurs, and also between Hungry Lions and JDR Stars. Leruma United were held to a 1-1 draw by ten-men AmaTuks, while Venda Football Club and Upington City also ended 1-1.

On Sunday, however, ORBIT College’s 3-0 win over Kruger United meant they hold onto second place, three behind Durban City, while Black Leopards kept their playoff contention in good stead, as they beat Milford 1-0 to be third.
