Leopards Not Giving Up On Saving Pro Status – ODG

Black Leopards head coach Owen Da Gama says it’s not over until the fat lady sings.

This is in reference to the relegation dogfight Leopards is facing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

With five matches to go Li Doda Duvha are the bottom of the championship log with 18 points, eight points from safety.

The former Premier Soccer League side has only picked four points in the last three matches and Da Gama says though he has seen improvements, his charges need to do the work themselves and not just rely on fellow bottom teams losing if they are to survive.

Da Gama also believes his players need to build character to get out of the situation.

“They [players] have got to understand that they are creating chances which are important. If they had taken one or two of those chances we’d be speaking a different language now,” he said.

“I mean they played well against Casric Stars, they played well against Magesi. You know it’s getting better but I just think that the players have got to realise that every game is a cup final from now on. We are playing TTM in our next game.

“It’s a bottom-of-the-log battle, it’s one that we have to win and we cannot rely on other teams losing.

“We’ve got to win our games. You know every time other teams lose we are happy but we’ve got to keep soldiering on and it’s not over until the fat lady sings. It’s as simple as that.”

Lidoda Duvha are set to face TTM on Sunday afternoon in a thrilling Limpopo derby at the Thohoyandou Stadium (15h00).
