Baroka FC head coach Dan Malesela has given an update on when the club’s new signings can be expected to start playing competitively.
The Limpopo Motsepe Foundation championship side announced the signing of Gift Motupa on a short-term deal last week, while Bonginkosi Makume was also reported to have returned to Bakgaga this month.
Both were not in the match-day squad in the 2-0 loss to Magesi FC in the league on Sunday with Makume seen in Baroka uniform on the stands. But the coach revealed that club management is still finalising details, while Motupa should be available for Bakgaga’s next clash.
“Makume, we haven’t signed yet. Gift will probably play the next match because we needed for him to settle down and let’s see what happens next week,” said Malesela.
“That is something that Richard and the chairman are trying to solve you know. I’m not so sure as to how far they are [with signing Makume] but I like saying that ‘tell me things when they are already done. Don’t keep promising next week, next week no, when it’s done is then we can talk’.”
Dropping points against their provincial rivals saw Baroka remain in fourth position on the championship log with 31 points from 20 matches. Malesela admits that Motupa’s arrival is immense as they are struggling with personnel in his position.
“Besides that we are struggling with the striking position. The one out and out striker we have is Mthombeni and now he is injured and you know we are having a difficult time,” he added.
“So, he [Motupa] will come in handy. The worry is just that we have to see his fitness level and see how we manage that and how can help him when he is there.
“But we have to try and push Mthobeni to heal quickly and let’s see with the coming games”
