Baroka FC caretaker coach Morgan Mammilla says he is back home to help the side get back to the top division.
Mammila was with Bakgaga previously but in an administrative role before leaving for Chippa United, where was let go two weeks ago, having been the Technical Director of the Chili Boys.
Baroka suspended head coach Dan Malesela after the first match of the promotional playoffs against University of Pretoria (Tuks), which they lost 1-0.
Mammila says he was brought in to oversee the playoffs and help Bakgaga go back to the DStv Premiership. He was in charge of the goalless draw against DStv Premiership side Richards Bay in his first match back with the Limpopo side and he says he couldn’t say no when the club asked for his help.
“It was not a job that I was eying, I was home,” Mammila told iDiski Times question.
“Remember I just came from wherever I was. I was at home relaxing but once a brother takes the phone and says ‘how are you’, I said I’m fine and remember this is my home.
“This team has made me who I am and I can’t say no to a brother of mine when he asks. Of course Baroka is me whether I like it or not, Baroka is me. Morgan without Baroka, I’m nothing.
“There wasn’t even a conversation before, it just happened on Tuesday when they asked ‘can you help’. Then I came and said ‘I’m home’. Home is home, there is no better place like home, I’m home. For these three matches I’m coaching.”
Baroka are bottom of the playoffs table with a point from two matches and they face Tuks in a must-win match next Wednesday at home.
