Polokwane City got back to winning ways and returned to the top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship after midweek action.

City had dropped down a spot on Tuesday after Casric Stars moved temporarily top after beating Cape Town Spurs 1-0.

City beat Platinum City Rovers 3-1 on Wednesday thanks to goals from Puleng Marema, Simon Ramabu and Lebohang Nkaki, while Rovers’ goal was an own goal by Bulelani Nikani. 

Stanley Muishond grabbed a late winner as Hungry Lions beat La Masia 1-0, while it ended 1-1 between Venda Football Academy and Uthongathi.

Meanwhile, bottom-placed Pretoria Callies picked up a morale-boosting 2-0 win over Magesi, as Clinton Larsen suffered his first defeat since joining the club.

On Tuesday, there was a 1-0 win for JDR Stars over Baroka, AmaTuks picked up a 2-1 away win over Tshakhuma, while it ended goalless between All Stars and Black Leopards.
