Motsepe Foundation Championship Round-Up

Despite losing on Saturday, Polokwane City remain top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship table after this weekend’s round of action, albeit now only by goal difference.

On Saturday City went down 3-1 to Baroka, as former TUT coach Bushy Moloi looks to turn things around at Bakgaga after replacing Vincent Khobola.

Another team on the upturn is Pretoria Callies, who picked up a second straight win. Kwanele Kopo’s outfit were ruthless as they beat AmaTuks 3-0.

There were good 2-1 away wins for both Uthongathi (seventh) and All Stars (fourth). Uthongathi got the better of Black Leopards, while All Stars defeated La Masia to move closer to the top of the table. Both losing teams are now at the bottom of the table.

Casric Stars could’ve moved top of the table, but they were held to a goalless draw away at fifth-placed Hungry Lions. The point was enough however for Casric to join Polokwane on 30 points.

On Sunday JDR Stars moved into the third spot as they picked up a thumping 5-0 away win against Tshakhuma, who recently suspended coach Lucky Nelukau for personal reasons.

Cape Town Spurs moved up to sixth after beating Magesi 1-0 at Athlone Stadium.

Finally, Venda Football Academy grabbed a later winner against Platinum City Rovers in a morale-boosting 1-0 win to move off the bottom of the table.
