Cape Town City have announced that they will part ways with head coach Jan Vreman at the end of the 2025/26 Motsepe Foundation Championship season.
Vreman failed to guide the Citizens back to Betway Premiership season after finishing last in the PSL/Promotion playoffs.
City came into the clash against Magesi on Wednesday needing a win in order to stand any chance of top-flight progression.
Despite taking a first-half lead courtesy of Therlo Moosa’s opener, they were pecked back in the second period as Mcedisi Vandala grabbed the equaliser for Dikwena Tsa Meetse with the tie ending in a 1-1 stalemate at the Athlone Stadium.
The club has now confirmed via statement that the Dutchman will leave the club
“The club would like to extend its sincere thanks and appreciation to Jan Vreman, who will depart his role as Head Coach at the end of the 25/26 season.
“Jan took charge during an important and difficult period for the club and led the team with great professionalism and dedication. Under his guidance, we finished second in the league, narrowly missing out on a magical immediate repromotion.
“Although we did not quite get over the line, Jan’s commitment to the club, the players and the project was clear throughout. His selfless work, leadership, and humility have revived the club – setting us once again in the right direction for the future.
“The club would like to thank Jan sincerely for his efforts and contribution, and we wish him every success in the next chapter of his career,” the statement read.
