Orbit End 2023 Top Of MFC

Rookies Orbit College will celebrate the end of 2023 being at the top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

But when football resumes in February, it is expected to be a highly competitive second half of the campaign, with just 14 points separating first and last positions.

Orbit, who were only promoted to professional football six months ago, will remain top going into the new year. Orbit are two points clear after they drew 2-2 with second-placed AmaTuks on Tuesday.

Baroka moved into third place with a 2-1 win over Maritzburg United, while there was also a win for Milford, who beat Black Leopards 4-2; and for Magesi, who ended a good run by Upington City with a 2-1 win.

La Masia and Venda Football Club drew 2-2.

On Wednesday Hungry Lions moved up to fifth, and joined three other teams on 27 points, 3 off the leaders, as they beat Marumo Gallants.

There were also wins for the two teams who started the week in the bottom positions, but Pretoria Callies beat Casric Stars, while Platinum City Rovers beat JDR Stars to move out of the relegation spots.
