Cape Town Spurs are back on top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship going into next week’s final round of fixtures, after a last-minute win over La Masia.
Spurs won 2-1 on the road and moved above Casric Stars, who could only manage a 1-1 draw cat home against Venda Football Academy.
Meanwhile Polokwane City closed the gap with a 2-0 win away over Platinum City Rovers.
Spurs face AmaTuks at Athlone Stadium next week, and a victory would secure their promotion. Casric are on the road against All Stars, while Polokwane City host Pretoria Callies.
The three top teams are also the only sides who can still qualify for the playoffs, so whichever two don’t win the league, will still have a chance for promotion as they play off against the team who finished second last in the DStv Premiership.
All of the penultimate round’s results:
Casric Stars 1-1 Venda Football Academy
La Masia 1-2 Cape Town Spurs
Platinum City Rovers 0-2 Polokwane City
AmaTuks 2-0 Tshakhuma
Magesi 0-0 Uthongathi
Black Leopards 1-3 All Stars
Baroka 1-0 Hungry Lions
Pretoria Callies 1-0 JDR Stars
