Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Morgan Gould says he understands why his former side has signed mostly defensive players, saying it’s about building a solid foundation.
Chiefs announced seven new players in the last transfer window in Fiacre Ntwari, Gaston Sirino, Bongani Sam, Rushwin Dortley, Bradley Cross, Angolan international Inacio Miguel and welcomed back Njabulo Blom on loan from MLS outfit St Louis City.

Talking to iDiski Times senior writer in the latest edition of the newspaper, Gould said getting defenders is about foundation because the less a team concedes the better their chances of getting goals.
“Ja, your foundation needs to be strong, and your foundation starts with your defence,” Gould told iDiski Times.
“If you don’t leak goals, going forward will be easier. I think the midfielders and strikers will feel that we have a reliable back four, back five, with a goalkeeper. And if you have that, you can safely say, I’ll do my bit, you’ll do yours.
“Starting from the back, going forward is definitely the way because if you leak goals, half your opportunities of winning the game are gone, but if you don’t leak goals, half your opportunities of winning a game are greater.”
