Chivaviro: Still Painful To Lose The MTN8 Like That

Kaizer Chiefs striker Ranga Chivaviro said the pain of bowing out in the MTN8 semi final is still unbearable that even to this day he feels it.

But the former Marumo Gallants striker says there is no need to wallow on it and they have to move on because they cannot change the situation.

Chiefs were elbowed out of the MTN8 in circumstances that it is understable why Chivaviro feels the pain cutting deep as they were denied a clear penalty late minute of the game against Mamelodi Sundowns in the second leg last weekend in Pretoria.

Mdu Mdantsane appeared to be on the receiving end of the kick behind inside the box by Thapelo Maseko in the last minute when the game was 2-1 (3-2 on aggregate) in favour of Downs, but referee Luxolo Badi waved plan on

Chiefs, who protested the decision to Badi, if they were given that call and scored, they would have gone through on away goal rules and meet Orlando Pirates in the sold-out affair at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

“To be honest it’s still painful even now, but the reality is we have to move on, like you said it’s a human and there’s nothing we can do about it,” admitted Chivaviro.

“If there was anything [we did wrong] we would go back and rectify the mistakes but we can’t so we have to be professionals and move on – but the bottom line is painful.

“We’re hurt and we wanted to give supporters something back. We wanted to [give the club] a chance of winning a cup, but it wasn’t to be, so we moved on.”

Chiefs and Chivaviro will have to channel that pain to Cape Town City who they host at FNB Stadium this evening (19:30), with Eric Tinkler’s side having not lost at the Calabash since January 2020.
