Doctor – It Was A Clear Penalty

Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo has insisted there was no debate about whether Kaizer Chiefs should’ve had a penalty in their 2-1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in their MTN8 semi-final second leg.

Masandawana booked their spot in their 11th MTN8/BP Top8 final thanks to a brace by Peter Shalulile, who scored after just 10 seconds and just before half-time.

Ashley Du Preez had equalised for Chiefs in the first stanza before Sundowns retook the lead.

But the biggest talking point came in second-half injury time when Mduduzi Mdantsane was brought down inside after a kick by by Thapelo Maseko in the fourth minute of injury-time, but Luxolo Badi waved play on.

Had Chiefs converted the spot-kick and the game ended 2-2, Amakhosi would’ve progressed on away goals.

After the match, Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki insisted was a clear and Doctor Khumalo as well as former Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana agreed with him.

“That was a definite penalty, it was a penalty,” Khumalo said on SABC Sport.

“The ball was swung in, cleared, then Mdantsane was founded, he didn’t get the ball, but look at the contact.

“That’s a penalty.”

Kekana quickly agreed with Khumalo, saying there was no doubt about the incident.

“Easy, all day. It is a penalty,” Kekana responded.
