Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has predicted that Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates will go through to the MTN8 final.
The iDiskiTV analyst believes Sundowns will be too strong for Molefi Ntseki’s side, who will have to come out to score a goal after conceding a late equaliser in injury-time of the first leg.
With expected Chiefs to be more open to turn the game around, it would play into the hands of the home side, and Khanye predicts Sundowns could score three goals on Saturday.
“Sundowns are going to progress tomorrow, Chiefs will be eliminated tomorrow,” he told iDiski Times.
“By 5:30, Chiefs will be eliminated and the score will be quite clear. Chiefs need to score, they need to come out.
“Molefi Ntseki approached the first leg very defensively but tomorrow he doesn’t have a choice.
“If Chiefs score, they will score one, not more, but I can see Sundowns score three. Sundowns are going to dominate the game as usual.
“The are very strong, they are consistent, they’ve got quality players. They’ve mastered a system, they’ve got a quality young coach, who understands his players. He has signed players according to his philosophy.
“The confidence of Chiefs players is low and now they are playing the current giants of South African football.”
Meanwhile, Khanye predicted a slight upset in the second semi-final on Sunday, saying Stellies can beat Pirates at Orlando Stadium, but it will be the Buccaneers who will book their ticket for the final.
“Orlando Pirates, my prediction might surprise, but I see Pirates going to lose 1-0,” he explained.
“Pirates have got very, very strong individual players but they are also very inconsistent.
“With the type of players they’ve brought in this year, I’m expecting them to compete, to go all the way. It’s either them or Sundowns for the trophy.
“I don’t understand why coach Riveiro played Baloni against Sundowns, an inexperienced player. So there is some inconsistence in Riveiro’s starting XIs.
“But Pirates do have players with individual brilliance such as Maswanganyi, Mofokeng, Lepasa and Ndlondlo.
“I do think they they will be tested by Stellenbosch, who will come with power. They lost so many games, after losing so many players, like Mendieta and Mthethwa.
“I think they’re going to score because of the pace they’ve got, they’ll catch Pirates in transition but they’ll lose overall because of the inexperience.”
