Mokwena – God Loves Sundowns Too

Rulani Mokwena has stated that the late goal against Kaizer Chiefs proves that God also loves Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Masanwana needed a 93rd minute equaliser by Khuliso Mudau to cancel out Edson Castillo’s opener in their 1-1 MTN8 semi-final first leg at FNB Stadium.

After the match, Mokwena remembered his comments from before the game, when he had stated that “God is a Kaizer Chiefs supporter” because they have many times scored late goals throughout history – insisting he meant it in a respectful way.

“I guess God was listening to my pre-match press conference and he hd to just remind us that he loves us all,” he told SuperSport TV.

“Amazing, congratulations to the players, congratulations to the entire Mamelodi Sundowns. I think this feels like a victory because we have an away goal and we come back from one goal.

“In fact, to be honest, we shouldn’t be 1-0 down. We dominated so much, we create so many chances and we had to come back, so good fighting spirit. Now we go for the second leg.

“We dominate the ball, we dominate the pitch, but we will get there.”

When reminded of his comments from before the match, a smile overcame Mokwena and he added: “Didn’t he [God] just demonstrate that he loves Mamelodi Sundowns, too.”
