Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City have announced their starting line-ups ahead of this afternoon’s MTN8 second-leg semi-final clash at Orlando Stadium.
Two days ago, these two sides battled out in Cape Town in the first leg of the Wafa Wafa last four with the tie ending in an entertaining 1-1 draw at DHL Stadium. This was a positive result for Pirates, as they managed to score an away goal courtesy of Relebohile Mofokeng.
City’s equalizer came deep in the second half when Jaedin Rhodes found the back of the net to make the second leg even more interesting at eSgodini. Pirates will be looking to reach their third-back-to-back MTN8 final, having won the last two.
City on the other hand, last reached the final in 2018 when they beat SuperSport United to lift the trophy, and an upset over Pirates will be in the back of their minds when they step onto the pitch in Orlando.
A goalless draw would send Pirates to the final, and a 1-1 draw would mean the game goes to extra-time and penalties if the game is not decided in 120 minutes, with any win for City taking them through to their third MTN8 final since their existence.
Here is how they line up:
Pirates XI: Chaine, Sesane, Ndah, Monyane, Hotto, Makhaula, Mbatha, Maswanganyi, Saleng, Mofokeng, Mabasa
Subs: Dladla, Rasebotja, Kimvuidi, Dlamini, Makgopa, Gilberto, Sibisi, Timm
