Sekhukhune United head coach Eric Tinkler has confirmed that captain Linda Mntambo has fractured his ankle and will be out of action for three months.
Mntambo, who is a key part of the Babina Noko squad, suffered the injury in the side’s 1-0 win over TS Galaxy two weeks ago and missed three matches already including the MTN8 semi-final tie loss to Stellenbosch over the two legs.
Tinkler was asked how long the former Orlando Pirates man will be out for and he confirmed that for three months however he is pleased with the player’s replacements.
“Linda’s our captain and Linda was actually doing well for us,” answered Tinkler when asked about the skipper’s absence by iDiski Times.
“Unfortunately, Linda has a fractured ankle, so he’ll be out for at least the next three months. But you know, I think everyone else tonight, [Thabang] Monare did well, [Siphesihle] Mkhize did well, Vusi [Mncube].
“You know like I said, I can’t fault the effort that everybody’s putting in. You know the squad that we have they need to step up.”
Tinkler’s charges are next in action against AmaZulu in the Betway Premiership on Wednesday in Polokwane.
