Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Youssef Ben Khalil has insisted the technical team have tried to prepare their players mentally to not stumble again vs a lower-league team in the Nedbank Cup.
Last season, Amakhosi were knocked out by Motsepe Foundation Championship side Milford FC, which wasn’t the first time the Ke Yona Cup record champions got unstuck against a weaker side.
With the Nedbank Cup again being Amakhosi’s last realistic chance of silverware, the club’s supporters are expecting no slip up against ABC Motsepe League side Free Agents.
Khalil has highlighted how the technical team have tried to mentally prepare the Soweto giants for the David vs Goliath clash.
“To be honest with you this problem is not only with Kaizer Chiefs. It happens always when a team from a lower division plays a team from the first division, they struggle, they have a lot of problems,” he stated on Thursday.
“Like I said it’s mentally problems because this team does not have pressure. If they win the game, it means everything for them, if they lose, no one can blame them about they lose the game, because there is difference between the level.
“I know, we have a lot of problem when we play against teams from lower division. We discuss a lot; with we made individual meeting with our players. We make; we discuss a lot of with them to prepare themselves.
“They have to prepare themselves mentally about this game. History yes, I know the there’s a lot of situation in the last season, it was we lost against team from lower division.
