Dladla On Durban City Permanent Role Prospects

Durban City interim coach Pitso Dladla has opened up about the prospect of taking on the head coach role permanently after guiding the team to the Nedbank Cup final.

City secured their place in the final with a narrow 1-0 victory over Casric Stars in the quarterfinal at Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

They will now meet the winner of the semi-final clash between TS Galaxy and Milford, set to take place on Sunday afternoon.

When asked whether reaching the final could strengthen his case for the permanent position, Dladla emphasised his focus on completing his coaching qualifications, noting that full-time coaching has limited his ability to further his studies.

“That’s what…that question always comes but I don’t know how I should answer that one because it’s clear,” said Dladla.

“And I want to make things clear, so people don’t talk what they think, they don’t talk wrong things.

“I’ve got personal ambitions as a coach, I still want to achieve them, and I’ve never hidden the fact that I’ve missed opportunities to do my CAF licence because I have commitments here in the team.

“I’m still waiting for that chance but that is the most important thing for me personally.”
