Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has picked his Combined XI from Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates ahead of Saturday’s Nedbank Cup final.
The DStv Premiership winners will meet the reigning Nedbank Cup champions at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday at 15:00.
It is one of the most-anticipated games of the domestic football calendar, especially with the league’s top two sides making it to the final – although there was a 23-point gap between them in the league.
However, Pirates have shown they can upset Downs, as they beat them on penalties in the MTN8 final, and have three out of three domestic cup finals under Jose Riveiro so far.
Meanwhile, Masandawana are looking to complete a treble after already lifting the African Football League and DStv Premiership titles this campaign.
With so much at stake and so many eyes on the players, Khanye selected his Pirates-Sundowns Combined XI, picking four Buccaneers and seven Brazilians.
Here is Khanye’s Bucs-Downs Combined XI:
- GK: Ronwen Williams (Mamelodi Sundowns)
- RB: Khuliso Mudau (Mamelodi Sundowns)
- CB: Grant Kekana (Mamelodi Sundowns)
- CB: Olisah Ndah (Orlando Pirates)
- LB: Aubrey Modiba (Mamelodi Sundowns)
- CM: Marcelo Allende (Mamelodi Sundowns)
- CM: Teboho Mokoena (Mamelodi Sundowns)
- AM: Patrick Maswanganyi (Orlando Pirates)
- LW: Relebohile Mofokeng (Orlando Pirates)
- RW: Lucas Ribeiro (Mamelodi Sundowns)
- FW: Tshegofatso Mabasa (Orlando Pirates)
Don’t forget, Khanye’s reality tv show – Junior Khanye: Fixing the Game – will air from 11 July on Mzansi Wethu.
