Khanye Predicts Nedbank Cup Winner

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye believes Orlando Pirates will complete their Nedbank Cup hat-trick and beat Amakhosi in Saturday’s Soweto Derby.

The two South African giants will face each for the second of their back-to-back derbies, with the Buccaneers claiming bragging rights in the first one.

However, Nasreddine Nabi and his men could still make up for it if they would lift the Ke Yona Cup at Moses Mabhida Stadium to end their trophy drought.

But Khanye believes Pirates will one final piece of silverware under Riveiro, who is unbeaten in the Nedbank Cup so far.

“It’s not going to be easy game,” he told this publication.

“Let me be honest with you, Kaizer Chiefs for tomorrow’s game, it’s a do-or-die for players and the coaches, because they’ve been waiting for the past nine years.

“So tomorrow if they’re not gonna win, it’s gonna be 10 years. Which is not a good thing for the history of team, the legacy that Kaizer Motaung built. I’m sure the players will want to do for Kaizer Motaung, the chief.

“It’s not going to be an easy derby. Chiefs will play mind games, I don’t think they will be open so much like last week. Last week they wanted to compete, I could see it early how they started. They surprised everybody by wanting to compete with Orlando Pirates and they got the early goal. It worked.

“But tomorrow, I believe it’s going to be different story for me. Because it’s going to be a difficult because Chiefs will very cautious and wanting to catch Orlando Pirates with transition football.

“And Orlando Pirates obviously come from the win over Chiefs on the weekend, the same opponent, and the coach has got better players compared to Chiefs’ players. Yes, Chiefs can try so hard, but the players at Pirates are better.

“The coach has got players that can win the game for him, and I compliment him for the response last week. It didn’t start well for his team, I think they allowed Chiefs the space to build up. They scored the early goal, but I don’t think he will allow that tomorrow to happen.

“So just to answer you, very quickly, I see Pirates winning 3-1.
