Former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates players, Itumeleng Khune and Teko Modise have predicted their Nedbank Cup winners.
It’s a battle between the two Soweto rivals at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, with the whole football fraternity discussing who will walk home with the trophy.
While Chiefs could win a record-extending 14th Nedbank Cup, Pirates could make it a hat-trick to win their third successive title, which bring the 11th Ke Yona Cup to their cabinet.
The Buccaneers are the favourites, having won their last five consecutive domestic cup finals, while Amakhosi are without a trophy in 10 years.
However, both Khune and Modise feel that it might be Chiefs’ time to celebrate later today.
“I hope they can win it for the old man, he deserves something,” he said on the Nedbank Cup spaces.
“He put so much into the club. 9.5 years [without a trophy] is not nice and he has invested so much in the players.
“I think Dr. Motaung deserves to be given the trophy. He has invested so much into the team and I think the players that are there now they must think of writing their names in the history books.”
Meanwhile, Modise added: “Football has it’s own ways, and I know Kaizer Chiefs fans have been going through this pain,”
“The club has been trying for so long and I know that at some point something is going to give, and I think this might be the chance that something is given to Chiefs.
“I strongly believe that this might be their game on Saturday. I could see Chiefs back on the podium and lift the trophy.”
