Makhaula On Facing Pirates Hoodoo

Orlando Pirates midfield enforcer Makhehleni Makhaula expressed delight at not being pitted against a non-PSL team in the Nedbank Cup’s last 32 round.

The Buccaneers were instead drawn against Richards Bay, which means they will once again renew their rivalry having already faced and beaten them twice this campaign. Last season, the Natal Rich Boys had the better of Pirates twice, knocking them out of the Carling Knockout Cup and beating them 1-0 in the league.

In the first match in Durban, Pirates needed Kabelo Dlamini’s 82nd-minute goal to win, and in the second round, Evidence Makgopa’s 26th-minute goal was enough for all three points.

Makhaula admitted that this is a tough fixture for the Buccaneers because they always find it hard to beat the KwaZulu-Natal-based outfit.

“I’m happy that we got a PSL team because each and every time when we get a small team like ABC team, it becomes easy for us (siyazehlela), “said Makhaula.

“Every time when we play against Richards Bay its always difficult, we find it hard its either we score 90 minutes plus or they score 90 minutes plus they win 1-0.

“Since I arrived here, it’s a team that has been giving Orlando Pirates a very difficult time home and away, so it’s quite a very interesting fixture.”
