Nabi Discusses What’s Chiefs’ Best Way Into CAF

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi says his side will use all available avenues to try to return to continental club football, however his biggest priority is to get the team back to winning trophies.

Chiefs are currently eighth on the Betway Premiership table with 28 points in 20 outings, but they are three points from CAF positions.

The side is still in the running for the Nedbank Cup, currently gearing up to face Stellenbosch in a quarter-final clash in Gqeberha this coming weekend.

Nabi wants his charges to compete on both fronts to get a better shot, however, feels getting back to winning cups is more important after they endured a decade long trophy drought.

“We have to play both sides,” said Nabi.

“The difference is not big between our position and the third in the league, there is only three points. It’s largely in our hands.

“For the [Nedbank] Cup we have to do everything we can as Kaizer Chiefs. It doesn’t mean that it’s the only possibility to go to CAF competition through Nedbank, no.

“We want as a big club as Kaizer Chiefs to go back to winning trophies even if we don’t go anywhere, but to go back to having the habits of winning trophies.”
