Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has explained his surprise switch in goalkeepers, with Brandon Petersen replacing Bruce Bvuma.
Bvuma had been Chiefs’ preferred goalkeeper since December, making 23 appearances while Petersen has only featured in three games in 2024/25.
However, Nabi made a surprise switch in the goalkeeping department for today’s Nedbank Cup final, with the coach explaining he felt there was too much pressure on Bvuma after recent performances.
“I knew that you were going to start with this question,” he told SABC1.
“We have been having rotation on our goalkeepers, first it was Ntwari and now Petersen. Petersen has been training extremely well.
“His ability in the air and we have noticed that Bruce has had an enormous amount of pressure in the previous which could affect his performances negatively.
“We want to protect him and we believe that at this moment the best choice is Petersen.”
