Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has explained why he dropped Relebohile Mofokeng and Tshegofatso Mabasa from his starting XI for the Nedbank Cup final.
Riveiro, who is still unbeaten in the Ke Yona Cup, winning all nine games in the competition so far, has made some big calls in his line-up.
In-form Mofokeng and golden boot winner, Mabasa were dropped from the Pirates starting XI by the Spaniard, who insisted the technical team picked the best XI to deal with Sundowns.
“As usually, we try to choose the players, the ones who we feel will win us the match,” he said on SuperSport TV.
“Today is not different the way we approach it now.
“We start with 11 players that we feel are prepared for the plan that we need to execute to deal with the opponent we have today here.
“That’s all, nothing else.”
