Stellenbosch Hammer SSU To Book Nedbank Semi Spot

Stellenbosch booked their place in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup after a comfortable 4-0 victory against SuperSport United at the Danie Craven Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

It was a first half well-managed by the home team, though they only managed one goal in the opening stanza when the impressive Anicet Oura scored in the 6th minute. It was Oura’s third of the tournament.

Perhaps looking to change the momentum, Gavin Hunt made three changes at half-time including bringing on young Shandre Campbell who was the leading Nedbank scorer going into this round, but the desired result was not forthcoming.

Instead, the floodgates opened for Stellenbosch after the break, as Devin Titus scored one minute in before Andre De Jong added a third five minutes later. The in-form Titus and De Jong joined Oura on three goals scored in this Nedbank campaign.

Just past the hour mark, Iqraam Rayners, who has five assists in this tournament, scored his first goal of the 2024 campaign to make it 4-0 and wrap up the result.

And while there were a few late attempts from SuperSport, the result was done and dusted and Steve Barker’s team were able to confirm their passage into the last four for a second consecutive season.
