Following his Nedbank Cup final heroics, former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Benedict ‘Tso’ Vilakazi has compared teenage sensation Relebohile Mofokeng to former Brazil star Luís Nazário de Lima, known to many as Ronaldo.
The 19-year-old protégé came off the bench to score a stunning goal, the winner in the 2-1 victory against Sundowns at Mbombela Stadium over the weekend. Sundowns took the lead via Themba Zwane before the Buccaneers equalized through Patrick Maswanganyi’s penalty. Mofokeng then stole the headlines with a 94th minute winner. The successful defense of the Ke Yona Cup means Pirates secured a second double in as many seasons.
Vilakazi called Mofokeng’s performance top class, adding that the teenager is just as brave as the former Brazil and Real Madrid forward.

“As soon as that ball got to him, I knew something would happen,” Tso said on iDiski TV.
“I knew because he is not afraid of anything. I thought he was immediately going to try to bend it so when he tried to dribble [Bongani] Zungu I was like uh, then it happens for him and with a toe. That’s top class. You know top players like Ronaldo of Brazil they didn’t care when they were in that position, if he is there and if it needs a toe, put that toe in.
“I was so surprised why he didn’t start the game because this boy has been on song that we are still singing his name and where we need to dance the boy is not there. But the coach introduced him later.”
