After many were left wondering what Rulani Mokwena’s note to Khuliso Mudau following the right-backs shoulder injury in the Nedbank Cup final said, it has now been revealed what the Mamelodi Sundowns coach wrote.
Mudau looked to be in severe pain during their Ke Yona up final defeat to Orlando Pirates in Mbombela after he had been brought down inside the box early in the game.
While Lucas Ribeiro missed the spot-kick, Sundowns’ medical team heavily strapped up Mudau’s shoulder, and allowed him to carry on with his on-field duties.

Mudau, though, seemed to be in pain and indicated to be taken off, with Mokwena responding with a note addressed to the Bafana Bafana right-back. While many wondered what was written, local photograf Vina Snap managed to take a picture of Mokwena’s words.
“I SAID I COULD TAKE A BULLET FOR YOU!! I’M ASKING YOU NOT TO GIVE UP ON ME,” the note said.

Mokwena later also confirmed that “he needed” Mudau to continue playing and the right-back had indicated at half-time that he was able to do so.
Despite fears that Mudau would not be fit for Bafana’s all-important 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers clash against Nigeria on Friday, June 7, the Musina-born pacey defender has since been given the all-clear by the medical team.
