Al Ahly Receive Tau Boost Ahead Of Cairo Derby

Egyptian giants Al Ahly have received a boost as Percy Tau is back in contention ahead Monday’s Cairo Derby against Zamalek.

Tau, 29, last played for the CAF Champions League record champions on 29 March in their quarter-final first leg against Simba SC.

He has since missed two leg games due to a minor injury and fatigue but is now back in contention, according Kingfut.

The news will be a boost for head coach Marcelo Koller, who can also count on the return of left-back Ali Maaloul and right-back Mohamed Hany.

Al Ahly currently sit in ninth spot on the Premier League log, with 21 points after 10 games, but have five matches in hand on current leaders Pyramids, who have 32 points.

Overall, Tau has made 26 appearances for Al Ahly across all competitions this season, with his last coming in December 2023 at the FIFA Club World Cup.
